RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET AND
PARKING LOT CLOSURES FOR HOPE RUN/WALK
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, Mary Greeley Medical Center(MGMC) is sponsoring the Seventh Annual Hope
Run/Walk on Saturday,June 16,2007,beginning at 7:00 a.m.,and the event is being held in conjunction
with the Day for All Ages event occurring in Inis Grove Park; and,
WHEREAS,in order to facilitate the movement of the participants in the Run/Walk,temporary
street and parking lot closures will be needed from 6:00 - 10:00 a.m. as follows: 1) East 24t'' Street,
Boardmoor Avenue, the east half of the northbound lane of Duff Avenue from Broadmoor Avenue to
East 20t' Street, the north half of the westbound lane of East 20t' Street from Duff Avenue to
Meadowlane Avenue, Meadowlane Avenue from East 20t'' Street to East 13th Street,the south parking
lot at Inis Grove Park, and the west parking lot at North River Valley Park; and,
WHEREAS, event organizers will notify occupants of properties along the race route about the
temporary parking and traffic restrictions; and,
WHEREAS,Public Works will provide barricades to block affected intersections and for the Inis
Grove and North River Valley parking lots and entrance to Homewood Golf Courses; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Works Street Department will provide approximately 200 cones, and
event organizers will place them appropriately along the route, and electronic signs will be placed on
Duff Avenue to warn motorists of the lane closure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that
the request from MGMC to temporarily close the aforementioned streets and parking lots for the Hope
Run/Walk on Saturday, June 16, 2007, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of May, 2007.
