HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract for emergency removal of storm damage debris RESOLUTION NO. 07-184 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT FOR EMERGENCY REMOVAL OF STORM DAMAGE DEBRIS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,LawnPro is under contract with the City for the 2006/07 winter tree trimming, and on the night of the ice and snow storm, it assisted City crews to get the streets open; and, WHEREAS,on February 26,2007,prices were negotiated with Lawn Pro to continue the storm debris clean-up,and this price was used to hire four other contractors with equipment and skills to match the damage in seven areas of the City; and, WHEREAS,LawnPro worked in the areas with the largest trees and the most damage, and it is now going back through these areas and finishing the debris clean-up by removing high hangers and performing tree and stump removal; and, WHEREAS, the amount of money needed for this storm debris clean-up was unknown,but on March 8, 2007, LawnPro was issued a purchase order for $15,000; and, WHEREAS, a change order was done to increase the amount to $45,000, and another $20,000 is needed to finish this project; and, WHEREAS,this puts the total purchase order at$65,000,which now requires Council approval; and, WHEREAS, costs will be expensed to the Ruse Use Tax Fund and will be submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA) for reimbursement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract with LawnPro of Ames,Iowa,to remove storm damage debris in the amount of$65,000 is hereby approved.
