RESOLUTION APPROVING ALLOCATION FOR
FUNDING FOR VEISHEA 2007 PANCAKE/WING FEED
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, on March 27, 2007, VEISHEA 2007 requested $3,000 from the City to assist in
funding the VEISHEA Pancake/Wing Feed on the weekend of its main activities,April 20-22,2007;and,
WHEREAS,pancakes will be served beginning at midnight on both Friday and Saturday nights,
and wings will also be served on Saturday night; and,
WHEREAS,students would pay$2 for all-you-can eat pancakes and$3 for chicken wings;and,
WHEREAS, the Friday pancake feed was inaugurated last year and was so successful that
Saturday night is being added this year; and,
WHEREAS,the total cost of this event is anticipated to be between$25,000-$30,000, and over
3,000 students are expected to attend each night; and,
WHEREAS,the ISU Dean of Students Office is contributing$5,600 toward the cost,and the City
of Ames is being asked to contribute $3,000 towards this effort; and,
WHEREAS,staff supports the funding ofthis request,and the Student Affairs Commission voted
to ask the Council to support this request as well; and,
WHEREAS, funding is available from the Council's Contingency Fund Account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that
the request from VEISHEA 2007 for an allocation of$3,000 for the Pancake/Wing Feed is hereby
approved.
