RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO
PROGRAM GUIDELINES IN CONNECTION WITH
THE HOUSING FOR SUSTAINABLE NEIGHBORHOODS PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, at the 2004/05 budget wrap-up meeting, the Council allocated $25,000 on a
matching-fund basis to Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods, Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods is a non-profit organization dedicated to
maintaining diverse, family-friendly neighborhoods around the Iowa State University campus (South
Campus, State Avenue, Westside, and Oakwood Forest Neighborhoods); and,
WHEREAS, program guidelines have been established and approved by the City Council to
dictate how City funds will be used to help with program start-up and implementation; and,
WHEREAS,Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods has asked that the guidelines be amended
to increase the program income limits from 100%to 110% and purchase price limits from$135,000 to
$150,000; and,
WHEREAS, these changes would allow the program to attract more eligible applicants to
participate in their program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that
the above-referenced amendments to the program guidelines in connection with the Housing for
Sustainable Neighborhoods project are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27th day of March, 2007.
