HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for VEISHEA Parade RESOLUTION NO. 07-129 RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES FOR VEISHEA PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the planning for VEISHEA 2007 is in its final stages at this time, and in order to facilitate the planned activities,which are primarily taking place on Iowa State University(ISU)property, City approval will be needed for the temporary street closures for the VEISHEA Parade on April 21, 2007; and, WHEREAS,Ames Police will progressively close portions of Lincoln Way,Ash Avenue,Beach Avenue,Hayward Avenue,and Sheldon Avenue to allow for the movement of floats to the staging area; and, WHEREAS,nearby residential streets may be closed for only a short time allowing the floats to leave the Greek houses; and, WHEREAS, closures will occur between 3:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on April 21, and Public Works street crews will provide appropriate barricades for the above closures. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that the temporary street closures for portions of Lincoln Way, Ash Avenue, Beach Avenue, Hayward Avenue, and Sheldon Avenue from 3:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on April 21, 2007, for the movement of floats to the parade staging area for the VEISHEA Parade are hereby approved.
