RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF PARKING SPACES
ON CHAMBERLAIN STREET FOR
CAMPUSTOWN SPRING KICK-OFF
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the office manager of Campustown Property Management (CPM) has requested
permission to hold an event in the street orth of the apartment building at 200 Stanton Avenue during
the afternoon and evening of April 15, 2007; and,
WHEREAS,the event would require closure of the 2300 block of Chamberlain Street between
Stanton Avenue and Lynn Avenue to provide gathering space for tenants and potential future tenants of
the buildings at 200,207, 215, and 225 Stanton Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, CPM is collaborating with Monkeythis.com to provide volunteers to monitor
barricades and supervise the crowd, and organizers propose to construct at 16'x24' stange on the south
side of the street near the east end of the building at 200 Stanton,and a band has been engaged to provide
entertainment; and,
WHEREAS,if the event is approved,organizers will place notices on parking meters the evening
prior to the event to notify the public of the closure of the metered parking spaces and the street in order
to keep it clear of vehicles; and,
WHEREAS, the South Campus Area Neighborhood (SCAN) and residents of the building at
I I I Lynn Avenue are being apprised of this event,and organizers have expressed willingness to address
any concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that
the closure of metered parking spaces on Chamberlain Street between Stanton Avenue and Lynn Avenue
from 1-10 p.m. on April 15, 2007, for Campustown Spring Kick-Off is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27t' day of March, 2007.
