RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF WELCH AVENUE
FOR CAMPUSTOWN CLEAN-UP
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, representatives of Campustown Showcase, a subcommittee of VEISHEA 2007,
would like to close the north end of Welch Avenue on April 15, 2007, for the purpose of cleaning up
trash and power washing the street and sidewalks; and,
WHEREAS, Campustown businesses have been included in the planning, and several of them
have agreed to let their windows be painted in celebration of VEISHEA; and,
WHEREAS,the group is requesting that Welch Avenue be closed between Lincoln Way and Fire
Station No. 2 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS,students will place sandbags over the storm sewer intakes and start picking up litter
and other debris from the area early in the morning; and,
WHEREAS,Public Works street crews have agreed to provide barricades,and student organizers
will monitor the barricades at each end of the block as well as the parking lot driveway on the east side
of Welch behind Es Tas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,that
the closure of Welch Avenue between Lincoln Way and Fire Station No.2 from 9:00 a.m.until 1:00 p.m.
on April 15, 2007, for Campustown Clean-Up is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27`'' day of March, 2007.
