RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT
FOR CONSULTING SERVICES FOR
OUTDOOR AQUATICS CENTER
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, at the January 9, 2007, City Council meeting, staff presented recommendations
from the Parks and Recreation Commission related to the development of an Outdoor Aquatic Center;
and,
WHEREAS,the Commission recommended that staff be authorized to retain the architectural
firm of RDG Planning and Design for consulting services for the following services: 1)determine how
many people the facility needs to accommodate; 2) determine the capital costs to construct the
necessary water surface area to accommodate anticipated usage; 3) determine project budgets and
annual operating costs and anticipated revenues for two sites;4)evaluate the operational impact a new
facility would have on the Municipal and Carr Pools; and 5) assess the two facility locations and
prepare Conceptual Master Plans for each site; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of these consulting services is not to exceed $17,300.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that
the contract with RDG Planning and Design in an amount not to exceed $17,300 for consulting
services related to the development of an Outdoor Aquatic Center is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of January, 2007.
