HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Neighborhood Improvement Project--2006/07 RESOLUTION NO. 07-024 RESOLUTION APPROVING EXPENDITURE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR 2006/07 FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,for the 11 th consecutive year,the City Council has appropriated local option sales tax funds to finance the Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP), and this year, $50,000 was approved for neighborhood projects; and, WHEREAS, at this time, $25,000 is earmarked for NIP; and, WHEREAS,there are two main goals of the NIP: 1)to strengthen a neighborhood's appearance with the addition of permanent, physical improvements, and 2) to promote a greater sense of community through resident participation in a neighborhood project; and, WHEREAS, five applications were received for a total funding request of$10,980; and, WHEREAS, the Rating Team, comprised of City staff members and two citizens, reviewed the applications and recommended that four grants be approved at this time; and, WHEREAS, three applications were incomplete and sent back to the applicants for refining, and the project listed on one application was deemed ineligible; WHEREAS, at this time, one project, the Rockwell Avenue Neighborhood Cul-de-sac Improvements, is being recommended for funding in the amount of$1,627.70. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa, that the expenditure of$1,627.70 for the above-named Neighborhood Improvement Program project is hereby approved.
