HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Downtown Facade Improvement Grant for 411 Kellogg Avenue RESOLUTION NO. 06-504 RESOLUTION APPROVING DOWNTOWN FACADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT FOR 411 KELLOGG AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the property owner is remodeling the building at 411 Kellogg Avenue where he will locate the Cycle Source Group; and, WHEREAS, he has requested a $15,000 Downtown Facade Improvement grant for the renovation of the facade, a project expected to cost $35,000; and, WHEREAS,the proposal is to remove the metal slipcover and face the front with a clay brick veneer, designed to be consistent with the period of significance when the building was constructed, and the brick will be added to the upper and lower portions of the facade; and, WHEREAS,the City of Ames established the Downtown Design Guidelines in 2001,and the purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that City assistance for facade improvements were consistent with the historical character of Downtown; and, WHEREAS, the Downtown Facade Program has always been a one-to-one matching funds program that reimburses up to $15,000 for costs after work is completed; and, WHEREAS, the City Council recently changed this program from a non-interest loan to a grant. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the request for a Downtown Facade Improvement Grant in the amount of$15,000 for property at 411 Kellogg Avenue is hereby approved.
