RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION OF
HAZARDOUS MATERIAL SPILL RESPONSE TRUCK
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,in September 1994, a used 1980 Ford truck with a modified beverage body was
purchased for$22,157 and put into service as the City's first hazardous material spill response truck;
and,
WHEREAS,in 2004,Homeland Security approved a grant,through Story County Emergency
Management, that provided a new replacement hazardous material truck at no cost to the City of
Ames; and,
WHEREAS,the total grant amount of$295,651.77 included several items, one of which was
this new truck, at a cost of$162,957; and,
WHEREAS, the new truck was delivered and put into service on June 30, 2006; and,
WHEREAS, since the City did not expend funds to purchase this truck and the Council took
no official action on its acquisition, the Council now needs to officially accept the truck as an asset
into the City's fleet,thereby meeting generally-accepted accounting principles for asset management.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that
the donation of a Hazardous Material Spill Response Truck from Homeland Security is hereby
approved and accepted.
ADOPTED THIS I9t"day of December, 2006.
