HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendments to the LUPP text and map re: Ames Urban Fringe Plan RESOLUTION NO. 06-442 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO LUPP TEXT AND MAP TO INCORPORATE POLICIES OF THE ADOPTED AMES URBAN FRINGE PLAN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the Ames Urban Fringe Plan was approved by the City of Ames, City of gilbert, Story County,and Boone County on July 17,2006,after a comprehensive and rigorous review process; and, WHEREAS,the Ames Urban Fringe Plan has been developed as a hared land use plan between these four jurisdictions, and,thus, is based on cooperative planning, shared common principles, and planning objectives that drive the policies adopted for all future development in the area; and, WHEREAS, the next step is to modify the Land Use Policy Plan (LUPP) to incorporate the policies of the Ames Urban Fringe Plan into the LUPP,thereby promoting a predictable, consistent, and mutually-agreed upon growth pattern for the area within two miles of the City limits; and, WHEREAS, since the LUPP is a guide to future, preferred land use in and around Ames, it would be more complete and consistent if the land use policies approved in the Ames Urban Fringe Plan are incorporated into the LUPP text and map; and, WHEREAS, at its October 4, 2006, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the change to the text of the LUPP and in changes to Map Alternate 1 (combined map)and Map Alternate 2 (separate maps) as shown in Attachment B. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the changes to the Land Use Policy Plan incorporating the Ames Urban Fringe Policies,including both Map Alternate 1 and Map Alternate 2, are hereby approved.
