HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Engineering Services Agreement for Grand Avenue Extension RESOLUTION NO. 06-429 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR GRAND AVENUE EXTENSION (SOUTH 4TH STREET TO SQUAW CREEK DRIVE) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning Organization's (AAMPO) Long-Range Transportation Plan(LRTP)identifies the need to extend Grand Avenue from Lincoln Way to South 16' Street, and the first phase of this extension was completed to approximately 350 feet south of Lincoln Way at the HyVee entrance; and, WHEREAS,the next phase will extend Grand Avenue from this point south to Squaw Creek Drive, and the final phase will complete the extension to South 16t' Street; and, WHEREAS,during fall 2005,the Mayor and Council were able to secure funding through the new federal transportation bill for the second phase of the Grant Avenue Extension Project from Squaw Creek to Lincoln Way; and, WHEREAS,a request for statements of qualifications to provide engineering services for the Grant Avenue Extension(South 4' Street to Squaw Creek Drive)was sent out in August 2006, and six responsive proposals were received and evaluated; and, WHEREAS,it was determined that Howard R.Green of Des Moines,Iowa,would provide the most effective design services in an amount not to exceed $644,233; and, WHEREAS, the contract will include design survey, geotechnical services, environmental compliance,public information meetings, and roadway design plans and specifications. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa, that the engineering services agreement with Howard R.Green of Des Moines,Iowa,for the Grand Avenue Extension Project (South 4"' Street to Squaw Creek Drive) in an amount not to exceed $644,233 is hereby approved, subject to receipt of Iowa Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration concurrence.
