HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for ExCYtement in the Streets for ISU Homecoming RESOLUTION NO. 06-413 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR "EXCYTEMENT IN THE STREETS" FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,on Friday,October 20,2006,the Homecoming Central Committee at Iowa State University is planning an"BxCYtement in the Streets" event; and, WHEREAS,this event is in connection with Homecoming Weekend at ISU, and the event is scheduled to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, music and free food will be provided for attendees, and the event is an opportunity for the general public to view the Homecoming lawn displays; and, WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, organizers are asking the City Council to close the following streets: Sunset Drive from Ash Avenue to just west of the intersection with Beach Avenue; Ash Avenue from Gable Lane to Knapp Street; Gray Avenue from its intersection with Gable Lane to Greeley Street; Pearson Avenue between Greeley Street and Sunset Drive; and, Lynn Avenue between Knapp Street and Chamberlain Street. WHEREAS, streets will be closed at approximately 6:00 p.m. and will be reopened by 11:00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,the Public Works Department will provide barricades necessary for the event,and organizers will be responsible for staffing them. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the aforementioned street closures for"ExCYtement in the Streets"to be held on October 20, 2006, are hereby approved.
