HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Suspension of parking regulations for AHS Homecoming Parade RESOLUTION NO. 06-357 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES AND ENFORCEMENT FOR AMES HIGH HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday, September 25, 2006; and, WHEREAS,the parade follows the same route as this year's July 4th parade and begins at the Grand Avenue overpass on Main Street,proceeds east on Main Street,north on Douglas Avenue,west of Fifth Street, south on Pearle Avenue, and back to Northwestern Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the parade will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes and will begin at 6:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,to help facilitate this event,Pearle Avenue,Main Street,Fifth Street,and portions of Douglas Avenue, Clark Avenue, and Northwestern Avenue will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,parade organizers are requesting a waiver of parking meter fees and enforcement along the parade route from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the request by Ames High School to waive parking meter fees and enforcement on September 25, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Homecoming Parade is hereby approved.
