RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT
TO PLANNED RESIDENCE DISTRICT (PRD)DEVELOPMENT PLAN
FOR GREEN HILLS,LOCATED AT 2200 HAMILTON DRIVE,
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the applicant is requesting approval of an amendment to the Planned Residence
Development(PRD)Plan for Green Hills located at 2200 Hamilton Drive to construct a 10'-0" wide
by 16'-0" long by 16-'/2" high shelter along with placement of antennae on the flat roof of an existing
eight-story building; and,
WHEREAS,the shelter will house telecommunications equipment for service to the customers
of Cingular Wireless; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed equipment shelter shall be mounted on a new steel frame with
exterior brick wall finish and metal seam roof to match the existing penthouse for the elevator shaft and
an existing shelter; and,
WHEREAS, cellular directional panel antennae shall be mounted on new stealth screen wall
enclosures designed per specifications; and,
WHEREAS,these enclosures shall be screened via new RF signal transparent screen to match
existing antenna screen in the northeast roof quadrant; and,
WHEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance allows a cell site with antennae that are mounted on an
existing tall structure as a permitted use in all zones with the stipulation that the height of the antenna
shall not exceed the height of the existing tall structure by more than 20 feet; and,
WHEREAS,the height of the proposed shelter is 16-1/2',which is approximately six feet lower
than the elevator penthouse.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that
the amendment to the Planned Residence District Development Plan for Green Hills, located at 2200
Hamilton Drive, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 22"d day of August, 2006.
