HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Purchase of software maintenance for joint public safety network RESOLUTION NO. 06-332 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVING FORMAL BIDDING REQUIREMENTS AND APPROVING CONTRACT FOR PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE FOR JOINT PUBLIC SAFETY NETWORK FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, on June 14, 2005, the City entered into a 28-E agreement with Iowa State University and the Story County Sheriff's office supporting a j oint computer network for public safety, and this agreement included sharing of the network costs; and, WHEREAS, the City's share of costs associated with the operation of the network were approved by the City Council as part of the FY 2006/07 budget process which included$60,762 for existing HTE software maintenance; and, WHEREAS,the initial software maintenance contract cost is$47,614.80,however,there may be additional costs as applications are expanded; and, WHEREAS,Sungard/HTE is the City's software vendor for the Public Safety Computer-Aided Dispatch, Police Records, Phase II Mapping,NCIC/State Interface, and reporting applications; and, WHEREAS,the City contracts with the vendor on an annual basis for maintenance services, and Sungard/HTE is the sole provider of maintenance for these software applications; and, WHEREAS, included in this yearly maintenance is 24-hour programming support, software upgrades on all applications throughout the year,and eligibility to participate in the annual HTE Users' Group meeting where software enhancements are requested and formalized for the next year. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa,that the waiver of formal bidding requirements are hereby approved, and City staff is authorized to enter into FY 2006/07 software maintenance contracts with Sungard/HTE not to exceed available funding.
