RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF THE REQUIREMENT
FOR APPROVAL OF A SUBDIVISION PLAT FOR TWO RURAL PROPERTIES
ON ARRASMITH TRAIL
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, on January 6, 2006, a pre-application conference was held by the City's
Development Review Committee(DRC)concerning a proposed subdivision located at 6494 Arrasmith
Trail and the adjacent property directly to the north; and,
WHEREAS, the properties are located northeast of the corporate limits of the City of Ames
immediately east of Peterson Pits, near the edge of the two-mile extraterritorial boundary; and,
WHEREAS,the proposed subdivision involves land owned by the Virgil Raymond Estate,and
the proposal involves a relocation of the common property line approximately 650 feet to the south;
and,
WHEREAS, no public improvements or infrastructure is proposed, and City staff has
determined that since the property does not contain public infrastructure,a Major Subdivision would
be required; and,
WHEREAS,the owner is requesting that the City waive its subdivision authority rather than
apply for approval of a Major Subdivision; and,
WHEREAS, the subject property is located well outside the current City of Ames corporate
limits and not within the Priority Growth Area of the city; and,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa,that
the waiver of the requirement for approval of a Subdivision Plat by the City of Ames for properties
located at 6494 Arrasmith Trail and the adjacent property directly to the north is hereby approved with
the stipulation that a copy of the recorded Plat of Survey be delivered to the Ames City Clerk
following its approval by Story County.
