RESOLUTION APPROVING UNDERAGE ENFORCEMENT CONTRACT
BETWEEN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting permission to accept a contract for $3,236
from the Department of Human Services; and,
WHEREAS,the purpose of the funding is reimbursement for officer overtime associated with
two alcohol compliance checks and six special event enforcement activities addressing underage
drinking laws; and,
WHEREAS, the grant program is offered through the Story County Decategorization &
Empowerment Program; and,
WHEREAS, the Police Department would continue underage enforcement activities and
compliance checks with alcohol retailers; and,
WHEREAS, the officers conducting this enforcement would supplement regular Police
Department staff on an overtime basis; and,
WHEREAS, the areas that this program would target would be selected by each Police
Department shift supervisor.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that
the Underage Enforcement Contract between the Police Department and the Department of Human
Services is hereby approved.
