HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Grant application for 2007/08 Shared Use Path System RESOLUTION NO. 06-247 RESOLUTION APPROVING STATE RECREATIONAL TRAIL GRANT APPLICATION FOR 2007/08 SHARED USE PATH SYSTEM (ADA HAYDEN HERITAGE PARK TO BLOOMINGTON ROAD) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, included in the 2007/08 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is a project for the construction of the Skunk River Trail Extension(Ada Hayden Heritage Park to Bloomington Road); and, WHEREAS,this project will include constructing an asphalt path from the southeastern edge of Ada Hayden Park through a newly built shelter area south of Dotson Drive,then south along U. S. Highway 69(U.S.69)to an existing shared use path on the west side of Grand Avenue that terminates on the south side of Bloomington Road; and, WHEREAS, due to the topography of the area along U. S. 69, this project will require additional grading/earthwork, storm sewer/drainage, and landscaping; and, WHEREAS,a State Recreational Trail Grant is being prepared,and as part of that application, the Iowa Department of Transportation requires that the jurisdictional authority responsible for the maintenance and operation of the path formally endorse the project through written assurance; and, WHEREAS, $25,000 in funding will come from the Recreational Trail Grant; $80,00, from Metropolitan Planning Organization funding; and, $30,000, from Local Option Sales Tax. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa,that the State Recreational Trail Grant application for the 2007/08 Shared Use Path System(Ada Hayden Heritage Park to Bloomington Road) is hereby approved.
