RESOLUTION FINALLY APPROVING PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS AND FORM OF CONTRACT
AND AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR THE
161 K-V TRANSMISSION LINE MATERIALS FOR
ELECTRIC SERVICES 161-KV INTERCONNECTION PROJECT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, has heretofore approved plans,
specifications, and form of contract for the 161 k-V Transmission Line Materials for the Electric
Services 161-kV Interconnection Project as described in Resolution No. 06-178 adopted on the 9"'
day of May, 2006; and,
WHEREAS,a hearing has been held on objections to the proposed plans,specifications,and
form of contract,and to the cost of the proposed improvement in said City,and all objections thereto
have been overruled.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the plans,specifications,and form of contract referred to in the preamble hereof be and the same
are hereby finally approved, and the prior action of the Council approving them is hereby finally
confirmed; and,
WHEREAS,the Council did publish a Notice to Bidders for the construction of said work;
and,
WHEREAS, all bids have been received and considered.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. It is hereby found and determined that the following bids are the lowest and best
bids for said work, and the same are hereby accepted: RESCO of Ankeny, Iowa, for Bid
No. 1 -Insulator Assemblies in the amount of$577,290.79;Laminated Wood Systems,Inc.,
of Seward, Nebraska, for Bid No. 2 - Laminated Wood Structures in the amount of
$855,962.01; Laminated Wood Systems, Inc., of Seward,Nebraska, for Bid No. 3 -Wood
Tangent Structures in the amount of$1,564,773.69; WESCO Distribution of Des Moines,
Iowa, for Bid No. 5 - 15-kV GOAB Switches in the amount of$45,299.31; and, Thomas &
Betts of Memphis, Tennessee, for Bid No. 4 - Steel Transmission Towers in the amount of
$1,530,734.42.
Section 2. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract
with the said company in accordance with the company's proposal and the Notice to Bidders,
and in accordance with the plans and specifications heretofore adopted and approved.
Section 3. All bids or proposals received are hereby directed to be filed.
Section 4. All other bids, other than that accepted, are hereby rejected, and the Clerk is
hereby authorized and directed to return certified checks accompanying such unsuccessful
bids and take receipts therefore to be filed in the Clerk's office.
Section 5. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed
to the extent of such conflict.
