HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for July 4th Parade RESOLUTION NO. 06-211 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR 4TH OF JULY PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,organizers and members of Leadership Ames area again making preparations for the 4"'of July Parade to be held in the Main Street Cultural District(MSCD); and, WHEREAS,based on the success of the parade over the last two years, the parade route and associated activities will again be expanded; and, WHEREAS, the following street closures will be needed for the parade from approximately 9 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m.: Main Street from Duff Avenue to the Grand Avenue and continuing on Northwestern Avenue to Sixth Street;Pearle Avenue,Fifth Street from Grand Avenue to Duff Avenue; Clark Avenue from the south driveway of the Central Business District (CBD) lot to Fifth Street; Burnett Avenue from Main Street to Fifth Street; Kellogg Avenue from just south of Main Street to Fifth Street; and, Douglas Avenue from just south of Main Street to Fifth Street; and, WHEREAS, these street closures will facilitate line-up of the parade entries as well as the actual parade movement; and, WHEREAS, Public Works will provide barricades to close the streets and control access to the parking lots; and, WHEREAS, organizers will be responsible for the replacement of any lost or damaged barricades. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa,that the closure of portions of Northwestern Avenue,Main Street,Douglas Avenue,Fifth Street,Burnett Avenue, Kellogg Avenue, Clark Avenue, and Pearle Avenue from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 1:00 p.m. for the 4tn of July Parade scheduled at 11:00 a.m. is hereby approved.
