RESOLUTION APPROVING 2006/07 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)ANNUAL ACTION PLAN
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, in order to receive CDBG funds, the City must submit a Consolidated Plan to the
Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD); and,
WHEREAS,the Consolidated Plan is the planning document for the Ames jurisdiction; and,
WHEREAS,the Consolidated Plan requires detailed background information on the commonly derived
both from census data and from other comprehensive studies performed by the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Plan must identify, over a five-year period, the goals and priorities to address the
housing and community development needs of low-and moderate-income persons as well as the non-low-and
moderate-income persons;and,
WHEREAS, the Consolidated Plan requires that the City must develop an Annual Action Plan that
outlines the program activities that will be undertaken to address or meed those goals and priorities; and,
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2006, the City received notification from the HUD that for fiscal year
beginning July 1, 2006, the City will receive $502,589 in Community Development Block Grant, of which
$402,071 is available for programming and$100,518 is available for administrative expenses; and,
WHEREAS,the proposed 2006/07 Annual Action Plan program activities are: [1]Renter Affordability
Program($75,388), [2] Minor Repair Assistance Program for Non-Profits ($26,683); and, [3] Neighborhood
Sustainability Program($300,000); and,
WHEREAS, staff prepared the 2006-07 Action Plan, designating April 13 through April 27, 2006, as
the public comment period; and,
WHEREAS, the final Action Plan for 2006-07 must be submitted to the Department of Housing and
Urban Development on or before May 17, 2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the
2006/07 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 9th of May, 2006.
