HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement with Ames Foundation related to Bandshell RESOLUTION NO. 06-154 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH AMES FOUNDATION RELATED TO BANDSHELL AND BANDSHELL PARK FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, during the 2005 construction season, approximately $330,000 of an estimated $550,000 in needed renovation projects were completed at the Bandshell; and, WHEREAS, these Phase I enhancements were made possible due to the public/private partnership between the Ames Foundation($230,000)and the City of Ames($100,000 Local Option Sales Tax funding); and, WHEREAS, during the past 18 months,the Ames Foundation has continued to actively seek $220,000 in donations to accomplish the following Phase II projects: new walkways, landscaping of park entryways, amenities,new light fixtures throughout the park,risers for the stage, sound system, new windows/doors for the Bandshell, and engineering and construction management; and, WHEREAS,the Ames Foundation has received financial commitments totaling$220,000 and is prepared to complete the above listed projects at Bandshell Park by June 15, 2006, and the Foundation will contract for these projects to be accomplished, assuring that all work complies with City codes and standards; and, WHEREAS,in recognition of Phases I and II contributions totaling$450,000,the Foundation requests the followed to be included in an agreement with the City: name the Bandshell building "Durham Bandshell" and place two 24"x24" plaques on the facility; and, place a boulder with an 18"x18"plaque on it that captures the park's history and notes that Mr. Durham grew up adjacent to the park; and, WHEREAS, the agreement with the Ames Foundation stipulates that the City of Ames will not contribute financial assistance to Phase II. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the agreement between the City of Ames and the Ames Foundation related to the Bandshell and Bandshell Park is hereby approved.
