RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
2006/07 COLLECTOR STREET REHABILITATION PROGRAM
(NORTHWESTERN AVENUE FROM 6TH STREET TO 13TH STREET)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2006/07
Collector Street Rehabilitation Program(Northwestern Avenue from 6t'Street to 13th Street);and,pursuant
to notice and hearing, bids were received by the Iowa Department of Transportation on the 21" day of
February, 2006, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Iowa Department
of Transportation and filed with the City Clerk on the 20'day of January,2006; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid ofManatt's,Inc.,ofBrooklyn,Iowa,
in the amount of$1,070,766.72 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project;and,
WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said
contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and Manatt's,Inc.,of Brooklyn,Iowa,in
the amount of$1,070,766.72 dated the 28th day of February, 2006, for the construction of the
2006/07 Collector Street Rehabilitation Program(Northwestern Avenue from 6th Street to 13t'Street)
as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the
performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) of Des
Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$1,070,766.72 filed in connection therewith,be
and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 28th day of March,2006.
