HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Closure of Clark Avenue & 9th Street for Memorial Day Parade RESOLUTION NO. 06-090 RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF CLARK AVENUE AND NINTH STREET FOR MEMORIAL DAY PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, each year, the Ames Patriotic Council conducts a community observance of Memorial Day, and this observance involves a parade from City Hall to the Municipal Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the cemetery; and, WHEREAS,the Patriotic Council is requesting the closure of Clark Avenue(from Fifth Street to Ninth Street) and Ninth Street (from Clark Avenue to the cemetery) on May 29, 2006, between approximately 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. for the parade progression; and, WHEREAS, temporary closures of residential streets that intersect Ninth Street and Clark Avenue will occur as the parade progresses,and the Public Works Department will provide barricades for all of the street closure areas as required; and, WHEREAS,the Ames Police Department will provide a lead car for the parade and will assist participants through the Ninth Street and Duff Avenue intersection. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa,that the request to close Clark Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street and Ninth Street from Clark Avenue to the cemetery on May 29, 2006, for the Memorial Day Parade is hereby approved.
