HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for VEISHEA 2006 parade RESOLUTION NO. 06-087 RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURES FOR VEISHEA 2006 PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the planning for VEISHEA 2006 is in its final stages; and, WHEREAS,in order to facilitate the planned activities,City approval is needed to temporarily close certain streets for the VEISHEA parade on Saturday, April 22, 2006; and, WHEREAS, Ames Police will progressively close portions of Lincoln Way, Ash Avenue, Beach Avenue, Hayward Avenue, and Sheldon Avenue to allow for the movement of floats to the staging area; and, WHEREAS, nearby residential streets may be closed for a very short time to allow for the floats leaving the Greek houses; and, WHEREAS, closures will occur between 3:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on April 22; and, WHEREAS, all food vending and entertainment stages will be held on University property, so the City will not be asked to issue any food vending permits or to close Welch Avenue or Chamberlain Street. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council ofthe City of Ames,Iowa,that the request for temporary street closures of portions of Lincoln Way, Ash Avenue, Beach Avenue, Hayward Avenue, and Sheldon Avenue from 3:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on April 22, 2006, for the VEISHEA 2006 parade is hereby approved.
