HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for Sanitary Sewer System Study RESOLUTION NO. 06-048 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM STUDY FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,many areas of the sanitary sewer infrastructure have been in service a very long time, and the City has experienced considerable growth since these sewers were installed; and, WHEREAS, the 2006/06 budget approved a sanitary sewer system study with funding allocated in the amount of$100,000 from the Sewer Utility Fund; and, WHEREAS, this study will develop a hydraulic model of the sanitary sewer system to determine present and future capacity requirements; and, WHEREAS, this analysis will identify areas of improvements to existing infrastructure to adequately handle current conditions as well as future growth; and, WHEREAS,the studywill also update developers with projected infrastructure needs in future development areas shown in the Land Use Policy Plan; and, WHEREAS,a request for competitive proposals to provide engineering services was sent out with six responsive proposals being returned for evaluation; and, WHEREAS, it was determined that Stanley Consultants, Inc., of Des Moines, Iowa, would provide the most effective engineering services for the project because of background with City staff and infrastructure, familiarity with the analysis software, and staff with experience and expertise in this area; and, WHEREAS,the cost of the proposed engineering services contract is not to exceed$94,486. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the engineering services agreement with Stanley Consultants,Inc.,of Des Moines,Iowa,in an amount not to exceed $94,486 for the Sanitary Sewer System Study is hereby approved.
