HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Revision to Sustainable Neighborhood Program Guidelines RESOLUTION NO. 05-482 RESOLUTION APPROVING REVISION TO SUSTAINABLE NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAM GUIDELINES FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, at the February 10, 2004, City Council budget wrap-up meeting, the Council allocated$25,000 on a matching-fund basis for Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods, Inc.; and, WHEREAS,the Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining diverse, family-friendly neighborhoods around the Iowa State University campus; and, WHEREAS,the City Council also approved program guidelines on how City funds will be used to help with program start-up and implementation; and, WHEREAS,the Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods organization is requesting that the program guidelines be amended to remove the requirement that "a borrower be a first-time home buyer" and revise it to "preference would be given to eligible applicants who are first-time home buyers"; and, WHEREAS, this would allow the applicants who are non first-time home buyers to participate in its program, which may help the organization in utilizing the seed funds provided by the City; and, WHEREAS, staff is also requesting that the guidelines be amended to allow the income guidelines to adjust annually as established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that an amendment to the program guidelines in connection with the Housing for Sustainable Neighborhoods Project is hereby approved.
