RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT FOR POLICE PATROL CARS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, of the eight patrol cars in service, seven are replaced on a two-year cycle, and
one is replaced on a three-year cycle; and,
WHEREAS, two new cars are scheduled to go into service on February 1, 2006, and two
units on March 1, 2006, to support this task; and,
WHEREAS,the bid from George White Chevrolet for a 2005 Chevy Impala at$18,618 per
unit meets specifications at the lowest price,and there are four cars available in time to put them into
service in February and March 2006; and,
WHEREAS,the Police Department is currently analyzing the need for one or two larger cars
to replace one or two of the Impalas; and,
WHEREAS,this bid will be used to order the first four cars now, and then used again with
recommendations for replacing the remaining four cars; and,
WHEREAS, there is a balance in the Fleet Management Fund of $96,641.36 for the
acquisition of the first four cars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the award of contract to George White Chevrolet of Ames,Iowa,for the purchase of four 2005
Chevrolet Impala police patrol cars at a total cost of$74,472.00 is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 8th day of November, 2005.
