HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for TSI funding of West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 05-446 RESOLUTION APPROVING IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AGREEMENT FOR TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT FUNDING OF WEST LINCOLN WAY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM (FRANKLIN AVENUE/LINCOLN WAY) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,the 2005/06 West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements Program provides for constructing turn lanes and modifying traffic signals at the Franklin Avenue/Lincoln Way intersection; and, WHEREAS,increased traffic flow from the South Fork Subdivision necessitates left-turn lanes to accommodate heavy turning movements on the Lincoln Way approach to Franklin Avenue; and, WHEREAS, additional turn lanes are anticipated for the right-turning movement northbound from Franklin Avenue onto Lincoln Way,and the turn lanes on Lincoln Way will mitigate left-turning, rear-end, and right-angle traffic accidents; and, WHEREAS, a traffic impact report for the South Fork Subdivision justified these improvements; and, WHEREAS, the South Fork Development Agreement requires the developer and the City to share equally in the cost of construction for these improvements; and, WHEREAS,the funding provided under this grant agreement of$500,000 will be used towards the City's obligation for construction financing. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement 2006-TS-023 for Traffic Safety Improvement Funding of the West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements Program(Franklin Avenue/Lincoln Way) is hereby approved.
