RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS FOR SUBSTATION PROJECTS,BID NO. 1 - STEEL
TRANSMISSION TOWERS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
Miscellaneous Materials for Substation Projects,Bid No. 1 - Steel Transmission Towers; and,pursuant to
notice and hearing, bids were received on the 30'of August, 2005, as called for in the detailed plans and
specifications as prepared by DeWild Grant Reckert&Associates Company and filed with the City Clerk
on the 2"d day of August, 2005; and,
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Valmont/Newmark of Tulsa,
Oklahoma, in the amount of$131,594.28 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said
project; and,
WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said
contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Valmont/Newmark of Tulsa,
Oklahoma,in the amount of$131,594.28 dated the 13'day of September,2005,for the construction
of the Miscellaneous Materials for Substation Projects, Bid No. 1 - Steel Transmission Towers as
provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the
performance bond of the said contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America
of Hartford, Connecticut, as surety thereon, in the amount of $131,594.28 filed in connection
therewith,be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 27th day of September, 2005.
