RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET AND PARKING LOT CLOSURES FOR
ALL-AMERICAN WEEKEND ACTIVITIES
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, City staff has been meeting with representatives of the All-American Weekend
organizing committee, the Main Street Cultural District (MSCD), and the Ames Convention and
Visitors Bureau (ACVB) for the past several months in preparation for the Fourth Annual All-
American Weekend; and,
WHEREAS,activities will begin on Friday, September 2,2005,and will run through Monday,
September 5, in the Central Business District(CBD); and,
WHEREAS, it is being requested that the following streets and parking lots be temporarily
closed for the weekend activities:
1. CBD Lots X and Y,north of the east-bound drive lane, from 10 p.m. on September 1 until 6 a.m.
on September 6 (for carnival operation);
2. City Hall Parking Lot MM from 5 p.m. on September 2 until 6 a.m. on September 6 (for parking
of carnival trailers and trucks);
3. Main Street from Clark Avenue to Duff Avenue on September 3 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. (to
facilitate car show);
4. Kellogg Avenue from the CBD Lot to the alley north of Main Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on
September 3 (to facilitate car show);
5. Douglas Avenue from Main Street to the alley north of Main on September 3 from 6 a.m. until 6
p.m. (To facilitate car show);
6. Clark Avenue from Fifth Street to Sixth Street on September 3 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. (for
relocation of the Farmer's Market due to the car show); and,
7. City Hall Lot N on September 3 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (for"Ribfest"barbeque cook-off).
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the
aforementioned street and parking lot closures for the Fourth Annual All-American Weekend activities
are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of August, 2005.
