HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Suspension of parking regulations on Douglas Avenue Block Party RESOLUTION NO. 05-310 RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF PARKING ENFORCEMENT AND WAIVER OF PARKING FEES FOR DOUGLAS AVENUE BLOCK PARTY FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, Wheatsfield Cooperative, the Ames Public Library, Rieman Music, and The Octagon Center for the Arts, and Kitchen Bath & Home would like to hold a "Douglas Avenue Block Party" on August 27, 2005; and, WHEREAS,the organizers are planning a family event that will include live music,games, food vendors, and children's activities, including a jump castle, face painting, and a balloon artist; and, WHEREAS, to facilitate this celebration, the City is being asked to suspend parking enforcement and waive parking fees for the metered parking spaces on Douglas Avenue between Main Street and Fifth Street from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, this event is open to the general public and is supported by the Main Street Cultural District(MSCD). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the suspension of parking enforcement and waiver of parking fees along Douglas Avenue from Main Street to Fifth Street on August 27, 2005, between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 26th day of July, 2005. Diane R.
