HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Douglas Avenue Block Party street closures RESOLUTION NO. 05-309 RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE FOR DOUGLAS AVENUE BLOCK PARTY FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, Wheatsfield Cooperative, the Ames Public Library, Rieman Music, and The Octagon Center for the Arts, and Kitchen Bath & Home would like to hold a "Douglas Avenue Block Party" on August 27, 2005; and, WHEREAS,the organizers are planning a family event that will include live music,games, food vendors, and children's activities, including a jump castle, face painting, and a balloon artist; and, WHEREAS, to facilitate this celebration, the City is being asked to approve the closure of Douglas Avenue from Main Street to Fifth Street from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, this event is open to the general public and is supported by the Main Street Cultural District(MSCD). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the temporary closure of Douglas Avenue from Main Street to Fifth Street on August 27,2005, from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 26th day of July, 2005. Diane R.
