HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract for Wastewater Treatment with City of Kelley RESOLUTION NO. 05-272 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT FOR THE CITY OF KELLEY FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, in 1975,Ames and Kelley signed a contract for wastewater treatment, and the City of Kelley constructed a sanitary sewer collection system,a lift station,and force main to transfer wastewater from Kelley to the City of Ames for treatment; and, WHEREAS, Kelley began discharging to Ames approximately December 1978; and, WHEREAS,the current contract provides for a contract billing rate,including a surcharge, on wastewater flow that is estimated at 0.33 percent of the total flow received at the Ames Water Pollution Control (WPC)Plant; and, WHEREAS, the contract has been amended a few times since 1975, however, numerous statutory and regulatory requirements over the intervening years have created the need to revise the treatment agreement; and, WHEREAS, after considerable discussions regarding contract revisions, both Ames and Kelley staff agreed that the most appropriate action would be to rewrite the entire contract; and, WHEREAS, Ames staff is recommending that the City Council approve this agreement to become effective July 1, 2005. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Wastewater Treatment Contract with the City of Kelley to become effective July 1, 2005, is hereby approved, and staff is authorized to proceed with implementation of the contract provisions.
