HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street & parking lot closures for Midnight Madness activities RESOLUTION NO. 05-267 RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET AND PARKING LOT CLOSURES AND CHANGES IN PARKING REGULATIONS FOR MIDNIGHT MADNESS ACTIVITIES FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Midnight Madness Organization is requesting the following street and parking lot closures for Saturday and Sunday,July 9-10,2005: (from 5:30 p.m.to 11:00 p.m.for the races) Fifth Street from Pearle Avenue to Douglas Avenue; Douglas Avenue from Fifth Street to Sixth Street; Sixth Street from Douglas Avenue to Clark Avenue; Clark Avenue from Sixth Street to Main Street;Main Street from Clark Avenue to Northwestern Avenue;Northwestern Avenue from Main Street to Sixth Street;Sixth Street from Northwestern Avenue to Elwood Drive;Elwood Drive from Sixth Street to Pammel Drive; and,Pammel Drive from Elwood Drive to a pont 100 feet east of the intersection of Pammel Drive and Haber Road; (from 5:00 p.m. on July 9 to 1:00 a.m. on July 10 for post race activities)Clark Avenue from Fifth Street to Sixth Street; and, East City Hall Parking Lot N; and, WHEREAS,the following parking spaces will be closed from 5:00 p.m.until 11:00 p.m.on July 9: Fifth Street from Pearle Avenue to Douglas Avenue; Douglas Avenue between Fifth Street and Sixth Street; Clark Avenue and Pearle Avenue between Main Street and Fifth Street;and,Main Street between Clark Avenue and Pearle Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the Public Works Traffic Division will provide barricades and traffic cones to facilitate this event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the aforementioned street, parking lot, and parking space closures for Midnight Madness activities on July 9-10, 2005, are hereby approved.
