HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract/bond for 2003/04 Bicycle Trail System RESOLUTION NO. 05-244 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2003/04 BICYCLE TRAIL SYSTEM (EAST LINCOLN WAY/SKUNK RIVER BICYCLE CROSSING) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2003/04 Bicycle Trail System(East Lincoln Way/Skunk River Bicycle Crossing);and,pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received by the Iowa Department of Transportation on the 171h day of May,2005,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 10"day of May, 2005; and, WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Ames City Council have heretofore determined that the bid of United Contractors,Inc.,of Johnston,Iowa, in the amount of$329,031.98 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and United Contractors,Inc.,of Johnston, Iowa, in the amount of$329,031.98 dated the 24th day of May, 2005, for the construction of the 2003/04 Bicycle Trail System(East Lincoln Way/Skunk River Bicycle Crossing)as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company of Boston,Massachusetts,as surety thereon, in the amount of filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 14th day of June, 2005. Diane R.
