HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Parking lot closures for Fourth of July Parade staging RESOLUTION NO. 05-219 RESOLUTION APPROVING PARKING LOT CLOSURES FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY PARADE STAGING AND THE BILL RILEY TALENT SEARCH EVENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,organizers and members of Leadership Ames are in the final stages of preparing for the Fourth of July Parade to be held in the Ames Main Street Cultural District(AMSCD); and, WHEREAS,based on the success of last year's parade,the route and associated activities will be expanded; and, WHEREAS, food vendors will also be included in this year's festivities, and the Bill Riley Talent Search will hold its State Fair talent competition in the Central Business District(CBD);and, WHEREAS,the City Council is being asked to approve the closure of the following parking lots for the parade staging from 9:30 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. and the Bill Riley Talent Search: the north half of the CBD Lot between Clark Avenue and the edge of the lot behind Tom Evans Plaza; Lot MM; the south portion of Lot M (City vehicles and cars of City employees on duty will be parked in the north portion of the lot); Depot Lots U and V; and, Lot N which will remain closed from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for the Bill Riley Talent Search; and, WHEREAS, the Public Works Department will provide barricades to close the streets and control access to the parking lots; and, WHEREAS, organizers will be responsible to place and staff the barricades. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to close the aforementioned parking lots for the Fourth of July staging and Bill Riley Talent Search is hereby approved.
