HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 2005/06 CDBG Annual Action Plan RESOLUTION NO. 05-208 RESOLUTION APPROVING 2005/06 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)ANNUAL ACTION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, in order to receive CDBG funds, the City must submit a Consolidated Plan to the Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD); and, WHEREAS,the Consolidated Plan is the planning document for the Ames jurisdiction; and, WHEREAS, the Consolidated Plan requires detailed background information on the commonly derived both from census data and from other comprehensive studies performed by the community; and, WHEREAS,the Plan must identify,over a five-year period,the goals and priorities to address the housing and community development needs of low-and moderate-income persons as well as the non-low- and moderate-income persons; and, WHEREAS,the Consolidated Plan requires that the City must develop an Annual Action Plan that outlines the program activities that will be undertaken to address or meed those goals and priorities; and, WHEREAS,on January 25,2005,City Council directed staffto pursue the concept of a new owner- occupied,single-family detached affordable housing subdivision by subsidizing the infrastructure costs for a developer utilizing the 2005-06 allocation of CDBG funding and a donation of land from the Ames Community School District; and, WHEREAS, meetings with the Ames School Board and area developers were held wherein both groups expressed interest in collaborating with the City in the overall project concept; and, WHEREAS,staff prepared the 2005-06 Action Plan,designating April 5 through May 5,2005, as the public comment period; and, WHEREAS, the final Action Plan for 2005-06 must be submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development on or before May 17, 2005; and, NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the 2005/06 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan is hereby approved.
