HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for Memorial Day Parade RESOLUTION NO. 05-171 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR MEMORIAL DAY PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, each year, the Ames Patriotic Council conducts a community observance of Memorial Day, and this observance involves a parade from City Hall to the Municipal Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the cemetery; and, WHEREAS,the Patriotic Council is requesting the following street closures on May 30 for the event: Fifth Street from Pearle Avenue through the Clark Avenue intersection from 9:00 a.m.to 10:30 a.m. (for line-up and start of the parade entries); and,Ninth Street between Clark Avenue and the cemetery(for movement of the parade)between 10:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.; WHEREAS, temporary closures of residential streets that intersect Ninth Street and Clark Avenue will occur as the parade progresses, and the Public Works Department will provide barricades for all of the street closure areas as required; and, WHEREAS, the Ames Police Department will provide a lead care for the parade and will assist participants through the Ninth Street and Duff Avenue intersection. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to close the above-mentioned streets on May 30 for the Memorial Day Parade is hereby approved.
