RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
2005/06 CONCRETE PAVEMENT RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT
(LYNN AVENUE FROM KNAPP STREET TO LINCOLN WAY)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such project having been designated as the 2005/06
Concrete Pavement Reconstruction Project(Lynn Avenue from Knapp Street to Lincoln Way);and,pursuant
to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 16'day of March,2005,as called for in the detailed plans
and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 22nd day
of February, 2005; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Manatt's,Inc.,of Brooklyn,Iowa,
in the amount of$460,339.50 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said
contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa, and Manatt's,Inc.,of Brooklyn,Iowa,in
the amount of$460,339.50 dated the 22nd day of March, 2005, for the construction of the 2005/06
Concrete Pavement Reconstruction Project(Lynn Avenue from Knapp Street to Lincoln Way) as
provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the
performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) of Des
Moines,Iowa,as surety thereon,in the amount of$460,339.50 filed in connection therewith,be and
the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 121h day of April, 2005.
