HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Refurbishment of Fire Engine 1 RESOLUTION NO. 05-148 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT FOR REFURBISHMENT OF FIRE APPARATUS ENGINE 1 FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, Engine 1, located at Fire Station No. 1, is a 1987 Ford and is scheduled for replacement with a new engine in May 2005; and, WHEREAS, the replaced fire apparatus will move from front line status to reserve status; and, WHEREAS,the department has maintained two fire engines in serve status,however,three years ago, the decision was made that the department would maintain one reserve engine; and, WHEREAS, this change has allowed the department to reduce maintenance costs and improve the condition of the remaining reserve engine; and, WHEREAS, competitive bidding was conducted by the City, and Pierce Midwest Refurbishment Center is the recommended bidder with a base bid of$73,183.00; and, WHEREAS,although multiple bid packets were sent to qualified vendors,only one returned a fully-compliant bid, and fortunately, the City has had good experience with this company. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract for refurbishment of Fire Apparatus Engine 1 awarded to Pierce Midwest Refurbishment Center in the amount of$73,183.00 is hereby approved.
