Medical Certification forms shall be returned to Human Resources rather than the direct supervisor. 2. If an employee qualifies for FMLA and is absent because of his or her own health condition for more than three consecutive working days,or if the City becomes aware that an employee is hospitalized, the City may,by its own action, designate that leave as FMLA. WHEREAS,this policy change is consistent with the spirit of FMLA whereby FMLA runs concurrent with other paid leave provided by the City and more accurately reflects current and past practice. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the above changes to Section 10 of the City's Personnel Policies regarding the Family Medical Leave Act are hereby approved.
