HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Electricity for "Ames on the Half Shell" RESOLUTION NO. 05-136 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF ELECTRIC FEES FOR AMES JAYCEES' "AMES ON THE HALF SHELL" EVENTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, for the third consecutive year,the Ames Jaycees are sponsoring"Friday at Five: Ames on the Half Shell;" and, WHEREAS, due to the restoration work on the Bandshell, the Jaycees are requesting that the events be held to the east of City Hall on Clark Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets and in the right- of-way up to the sidewalk west of Clark Avenue (the sidewalk will be kept open); and, WHEREAS, the organizers request City Council approval of the closure of Clark Avenue on June 10, 17,and 24 and July 1,8, 15,22,and 29,2005,from 4:00 p.m.to 9:30 p.m.with a possible rain date slated for August 5; and, WHEREAS,the group is requesting that electric fees be waived for the use of electricity from outlets on the exterior of City Hall and in the parking lot east of City Hall; and, WHEREAS, the Jaycees will clean and clear the area by 9:30 p.m. each of the evenings; and, WHEREAS, organizers will obtain a noise permit from the Police Department; and, WHEREAS,it is the intent of the Jaycees to donate a minimum of$500 to fund a project at the Ada Hayden Heritage Park. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the Ames Jaycees' request to waive electric fees associated with the use of electricity for the "Friday at Five: Ames on the Half Shell" events is hereby approved.
