RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF CLARK AVENUE
FOR"AMES ON THE HALF SHELL"
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,for the third consecutive year,the Ames Jaycees are sponsoring"Friday at Five:
Ames on the Half Shell;" and,
WHEREAS,due to the restoration work on the Bandshell,the Jaycees are requesting that the
events be held to the east of City Hall on Clark Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets and in the
right-of-way up to the sidewalk west of Clark Avenue (the sidewalk will be kept open); and,
WHEREAS, the organizers request City Council approval of the closure of Clark Avenue
on June 10, 17, and 24 and July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2005, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with a
possible rain date slated for August 5; and,
WHEREAS,the Jaycees will clean and clear the area by 9:30 p.m. each of the evenings;and,
WHEREAS, organizers will obtain a noise permit from the Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Jaycees to donate a minimum of$500 to fund a project at
the Ada Hayden Heritage Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the Ames Jaycee's request to close C1arkAvenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets from 4:00 p.m.
to 9:30 p.m. on the aforementioned dates for the"Friday at Five: Ames on the Half Shell" event is
hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 121" day of April, 2005.
