RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENTS
FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS WITH
AMES/STORY COUNTY PARTNERSHIP CITIES
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,in connection with recommendations provided in a 1998 Ames/Story County Housing Needs
Assessment Study, the City of Ames, in partnership with the cities of Collins, Colo, Huxley, Maxwell,
McCallsburg,Nevada,Zearing,and Story County,created the Ames/Story County Affordable Housing Partnership
(ASCP); and,
WHEREAS,these cities formed a collaboration to create affordable housing opportunities in Ames/Story
County by pooling local dollars of the Partnership to leverage state or federal grants that would create a housing
bank to fund various types of housing programs for low-and moderate-income persons; and,
WHEREAS,the Ames/Story County Partnership became a reality,and in July 1999,began implementing
various affordable housing programs; and,
WHEREAS,the last 28-E Agreement among the partners expired on June 30, 2003; and,
WHEREAS,the Partnership has been meeting throughout the year to discuss and review the Program and
financial status of the Partnership; and,
WHEREAS,after reviewing administrative budgets,future revenue projections,repayments and interest
earnings,$426,000 was shown to be available to implement programs and cover administrative costs without any
additional local match contributions from the partners; and,
WHEREAS,the Partnership requested the Down-Payment and Closing-Cost Assistance Program and the
Minor Repair Program be reopened; and,
WHEREAS, all partners, except Collins and Story County, have agreed to participate and signed 28-E
Agreements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the
Amended 28-E Agreements with the participating cities of Colo, McCallsburg, Maxwell,Nevada, and Zearing,
pertaining to the Ames/Story County Partnership Affordable Housing Program, are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 22°d day of March,2005.
