HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Handicapped parking space on Main Street RESOLUTION NO. 05-109 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST TO PROVIDE A HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF MAIN STREET AT CLARK AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,staff received a request from a citizen,who is employed at 509 Main Street,for a handicapped parking sign; and, WHEREAS,in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act,staff reviewed the site to determine what accessible paths might be available; and, WHEREAS, staff also surveyed building and business owners at 501, 507, and 519 Main Street; and, WHEREAS,there was a consensus reached that the best place for a handicapped space would be at the corner of Clark Avenue and Main Street; and, WHEREAS,there was consensus reached that the best place for a handicapped space would be at the corner of Clark Avenue and Main Street as there is a handicapped ramp in that location and the availability of customer parking would not be impacted for the neighboring businesses. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Official Parking Meter Map is amended to provide a handicapped parking space on the north side of Main Street at Clark Avenue.
