HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Energy Scheduling Services with Missouri River Energy Service RESOLUTION NO. 05-070 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT WITH MISSOURI RIVER ENERGY SERVICE FOR ENERGY SCHEDULING SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the process of integrating the Ames Electric System into the Mid-Continent Area Power Pool (MAPP) and the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) is extremely complicated; and, WHEREAS,in order for Ames to be assured full benefits and participation, additional staff will be required in the future, however, an alternative to adding staff is to participate with other municipalities in a joint-action agency; and, WHEREAS, Missouri River Energy Service (MRES) is a joint-action agency located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota,providing energy and related services to more than 50 member electric systems located in Iowa, Minnesota,North Dakota, and South Dakota; and, WHEREAS, MRES has been in existence since the mid-1960's; and, WHEREAS, staff has met several times with MRES representatives to develop an Energy Scheduling Service Agreement, and this Agreement is important and beneficial in allowing Ames to arrange for delivery of energy to our customers; and, WHEREAS, the cost is $45,000 in the first year and $36,000 annually thereafter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Energy Scheduling Service Agreement with Missouri River Energy Service is hereby approved.
