HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract/bond for WAN Fiber Optic Cable RESOLUTION NO. 05-068 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR FURNISHING OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be made in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the Wide Area Network(WAN)Fiber Optic Cable; and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 4`h day of January, 2005, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the City of Ames Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of WESCO of Des Moines, Iowa,in the amount of$147,511.96 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS,contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and WESCO of Des Moines,Iowa, in the amount of$147,511.96 on the 25'day of January,2005, for the Wide Area Network (WAN)Fiber Optic Cable as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with The Continental Insurance Company of Chicago, Illinois, as surety thereon, in the amount of $137,271.50 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of February, 2005. C���a- Ly-a& Diane R.
